On Sunday, May 26, European Elections take place in Austria for the sixth time since accession in 1995.
SORA provided forecasts and analyses for the national TV station ORF.
Postal vote counted on Monday, May 27
Similar as in previous elections in Austria, voting with voting card (absentee ballot) was widely used in this election. The majority of voting cards (ca. 580.000) are counted not on election day but on Monday, May 27.

Precise first forecast at 17:00
Other than in previous elections, authorities will publish official results from the Austrian polling stations only after 23:00.
Therefore, the national public service station ORF, the private TV-station ATV and the Austria Press Agency co-operate for providing a first forecast at the basis of surveys:
- n=5.200 interviews (4.200 telephonic, 1.000 online) were carried out from May 21 until May 26 by three research institutes (SORA, Peter Hajek, ARGE Wahlen)
- The maximum deviation of this first forecast from the prognosis at 23:00 after the ballot box vote has been counted and published was at only 0,9 percentage points.
